Esnart Nkhona washes clothes next to her sisetr in law, Fanie Mbewe, 26- a woman who has gone through a ritual cleansing, where a man from the village is apppointed to sleep with her after the death of her husband. She is at her house near the Malawian town of Mchinji, near the border with Zambia in the east of the country.
